Christmas Logic Puzzles With Answers (Free, No Printing)

7 min read · IQ Tester

These Christmas logic puzzles with answers are grid puzzles you can solve right on your phone: no printer, no worksheet, no account. There are four themed puzzles (presents, cookies, lights and dinner), a full answer key, and two harder ones for adults. Each has exactly one correct solution, so you can prove you're right instead of just vibing.

If grid puzzles make your brain buffer but number patterns feel easy, that gap is worth knowing about, and IQ Tester shows you which reasoning skill is holding you back: Find my weak spots.

How Christmas logic grid puzzles work

A logic grid puzzle gives you a few people, a few categories, and a list of clues. Every person matches exactly one item in each category. Your job is to use the clues to rule things out until only one option is left.

The grid method in 4 steps

  1. Draw the grid. Names down the side, items across the top. In your Notes app, a simple table works fine.
  2. Mark the no's first. Every clue that says "not" is an instant X. Most of the solving is crossing things out.
  3. Look for lonely boxes. When a row has only one box without an X, that's a yes. Then X out the rest of that column.
  4. Re-read every clue. A clue that looked useless at the start often becomes the key once a few boxes are filled.

Pro move: never guess. If you're stuck, re-read the clues in order. Guessing is how you end up with two people both wearing the hoodie.

The Christmas presents puzzle

Three friends opened one present each at a Secret Santa: headphones, a hoodie and a book. Each was wrapped in a different color: red, green or gold.

People: Maya, Jordan, Priya Presents: headphones, hoodie, book Wrapping: red, green, gold

Clues

  1. Jordan's present wasn't wrapped in red, and it wasn't the book.
  2. The hoodie was wrapped in gold.
  3. Priya got the headphones.
  4. Maya's present wasn't in green paper.

Who got what, in which wrapping? (Christmas presents logic puzzle answers are in the key below.)

The Christmas cookies puzzle

Three cousins each baked one batch of cookies for the family party.

Bakers: Ellie, Sam, Noah Cookies: gingerbread, sugar cookies, snickerdoodles Batch size: 12, 18, 24

Clues

  1. Sam baked more cookies than whoever made the gingerbread.
  2. Noah made the sugar cookies.
  3. The snickerdoodle batch was the biggest.
  4. Ellie baked 12 cookies.

This one is a good warm-up for younger siblings. Hand them your phone and time them.

The Christmas lights puzzle

Four houses sit in a row on Maple Street, numbered 1 to 4 from left to right. Each has one style of Christmas lights: white, blue, red or multicolor.

Clues

  1. The blue house is directly next to the white house.
  2. The multicolor house is at one end of the street.
  3. The red house is somewhere to the left of the white house.
  4. House 2 does not have blue lights.
  5. The white house is not at either end.
  6. The red house is right next to the multicolor house.

This one has no names, only positions, so draw four boxes in a row instead of a grid. It's the trickiest of the three because you have to test cases.

Testing cases without losing the plot

When a clue gives two options (like "multicolor is at one end"), write out both versions on separate lines. Follow each one until it breaks a clue. The version that survives is your answer. This is exactly how people solve harder Christmas logic puzzles for adults too, just with more cases.

Tracking which cases you've ruled out is where most people slip. IQ Tester's logic and pattern questions are built for exactly this skill, and at the end you see your category strengths, so you know if logic is your weak spot or your superpower. Find my weak spots

The Christmas dinner puzzle

Four friends brought one dish each to a Christmas dinner: ham, roast potatoes, mac and cheese, or pie. The side dishes are the potatoes and the mac and cheese.

Guests: Ava, Ben, Cleo, Dev

Clues

  1. Dev didn't bring a side dish.
  2. Ben brought neither the potatoes nor the pie.
  3. Ava and Cleo both brought side dishes.
  4. Ava didn't bring the potatoes.

Short, but it's a nice example of how "category" clues (side dish vs not) do a lot of work at once.

Answer key

Here's the full Christmas logic puzzle answer key, with the reasoning so you can check where you went wrong.

Puzzle Answer
Presents Maya: book, red. Jordan: hoodie, gold. Priya: headphones, green.
Cookies Ellie: gingerbread, 12. Sam: snickerdoodles, 24. Noah: sugar cookies, 18.
Lights 1 multicolor, 2 red, 3 white, 4 blue.
Dinner Ava: mac and cheese. Cleo: roast potatoes. Ben: ham. Dev: pie.

Christmas presents logic puzzle answers, explained

Priya has the headphones (clue 3). Jordan can't have the book (clue 1), so Jordan has the hoodie and Maya has the book. The hoodie is gold (clue 2), so Jordan's is gold. Maya isn't green (clue 4), so Maya is red and Priya is green.

Christmas cookies logic puzzle answers, explained

Ellie made 12 (clue 4). The snickerdoodles were the biggest batch, 24 (clue 3), so Ellie didn't make them. Noah made sugar cookies (clue 2), so Ellie made the gingerbread. That leaves Sam with snickerdoodles (24) and Noah with 18. Clue 1 checks out: 24 is more than 12.

Christmas lights logic puzzle answers, explained

Multicolor is in house 1 or 4. If it's in 4, red must sit next to it in house 3 (clue 6). But white has to be somewhere to the right of red (clue 3), and the only house to the right of 3 is already multicolor. Impossible. So multicolor is in house 1 and red is in house 2. White isn't at an end, so it's in 3, and blue takes 4, right next to white. House 2 isn't blue, which also checks out.

Christmas dinner logic puzzle answers, explained

Ava and Cleo took the two sides (clue 3), and Ava didn't take potatoes (clue 4), so Ava has mac and cheese and Cleo has potatoes. Ben can't have pie (clue 2), so Ben has the ham and Dev has the pie.

Christmas logic puzzles for adults

Done with the warm-ups? These two are harder Christmas logic puzzles for adults (or for the teen who wants bragging rights at the table).

The two elves. Every elf at the North Pole either always tells the truth or always lies. Elf A says, "We are both liars." What are Elf A and Elf B?

The Secret Santa math. Four friends draw names from a hat for Secret Santa, and nobody can draw their own name. How many different ways can the draw work out?

Answers: Elf A must be a liar, because a truth-teller could never say "we're both liars." Since A is lying, the statement is false, so they aren't both liars, which makes Elf B a truth-teller. For Secret Santa, there are 9 valid draws out of 24 possible orderings. Mathematicians call these "derangements," and it's a fun one to prove by listing them out.

FAQ

Where can I find free Christmas logic puzzles with answers?

This page has four free Christmas logic puzzles with a full answer key, and you can solve them on your phone without printing. Each one has a single correct answer, explained step by step.

Are there free printable Christmas logic puzzles with answers?

Yes: open this page and use "Print" or "Save as PDF" in your browser. To keep it spoiler-free, print the puzzle sections and leave off the answer key.

How do you solve a Christmas logic grid puzzle?

Put the names on one side of a grid and the options on the other. Use each "not" clue to cross out boxes, and whenever a row has only one open box left, mark it as a yes and cross out the rest of that column.

What are good Christmas logic puzzles for adults?

Truth-teller and liar puzzles, like the two elves above, and counting puzzles, like how many ways a Secret Santa draw can work, are great for adults. Bigger 4x4 or 5x5 grids with "if-then" clues are another good step up.

Are Christmas logic puzzles good for teens?

Yes. They're quick, they reward careful thinking over memorizing, and they make a good group-chat challenge over the holidays. Send one to your friends and see who solves it first.
